Wanderings
"I tell you, we are here on Earth to fart around, and don't let anybody tell you different." -Kurt Vonnegut
Bonnie made the rounds today. I spotted her on Main Street between downpours. I'm hoping to get up the nerve to interview her soon. I could probably put a decent bio together just talking to local shopkeeps but I think it's important to get the story from the source.
Important question to ask in any neigborhood: Who are the dogs? The dogs are residents of Northampton just like the humans and I think it's high time for a dog census. Then votes and taxes. They have names and desires and they get itchy just like you and me. I did not catch this dog's name but h/she was happy to pose for a picture.
I put up a new Drive By Poem recently. This one by SF poetry-world troublemaker August Kleinzahler. You can read it or take one for your very own out of the Drive-By Poets boxes in front of Broadside Books (pictured), Thorne's, or The Toasted Owl. Just pull the handle and grab one. Hey, why not submit one so I don't have to resort to far-away poets. Send it to drivebypoets@gmail.com. I like to keep it indigenous whenever possible. Also dig this. I'm curating a poetry reading on Wednesday, October 1st at Forbes Library and will be promoting the event by priniting poems by the selected readers as Drive-By Poets broadsides so you can get a sense of what's in store. So far I've confirmed Allegra Mira, Allyssa Lovell, Jim Neill (me), and I'm seeking two more local poets with two parallell l's in their names. I've emailed an invite to Lenelle Moise but she hasn't responded yet.

How about Tom Cambell, you can contact him via Apocalipstick's myspace page, Really Big Show's myspace or Rev. Fairchild. He's a poet/songwriter, very political, edgy and has quite a way with words.
